Not sure if anyone ever reads this comment, but the content of this episode just reminded me of a similar problem in the Islamic world, which is venerating the Islamic symbols such as the grave of prophet Muhammad. In this context, the Salafi school usually opposes the this kind of veneration, regarding this simply as polytheism. Contrarily, however, Shi'ism tends to commit such an action quite prevalently.
